History & Geographic Background
Tenakee Springs is located on the northern part of Chichagof Island, on the north side of Tenakee Inlet within Alaska's Hoonah-Angoon Census Area. In the Tlingit language, the traditional place name is recorded as Tʼanag̱eey.

116 residents
Municipal Incorporation
October 26, 1971
Census records first documented the community in 1910 under the name Tenakee. It continued to be reported under that name through 1940, and was designated as Tenakee Springs from 1950 onward.
